Mission and programs · 2023

Mission

Our mission is to advocate for the safe and timely deployment autonomous driving technology. We are the unified voice of the diverse companies working toward a world where safe and trusted AVs increase road safety, boost supply chains and improve mobility opportunities for all.

Activities or mission (Part I)

To advocate for the safe and timely deployment of autonomous driving technology.

  • The U.S. Department of Transportation has projected that AVs could significantly reduce the severity and frequency of crashes and fatalities. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 43,000 lives were lost on U.S. roads in 2021. Thousands of road accidents are caused by human error, including drunk, reckless and distracted driving. The Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association works with lawmakers, regulators, and the public to realize the safety and societal benefits of autonomous vehicles AVs. The Association is comprised of companies with technical expertise and experience in the technology, automobile, and transportation network sectors. Bringing together their various backgrounds, the companies formed the Association to advance AVs' tremendous safety, mobility and economic benefits to consumers in the safest and swiftest manner possible. AV technology has the great potential to improve public safety and mobility for the elderly and disabled, reduce traffic congestion, improve environmental quality, address inequity, boost supply chains, create jobs and advance transportation efficiency.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
