Activities or mission (Part I)
Groundswell Action Fund provides an easy way for individual donors to resource the strongest 501(c)(4) grassroots organizing and base building efforts led by women of color, low-income women, transgender people and gender non-conforming people across the United States to build political power through civic engagement.
-
Groundswell Action Fund makes grants and provides staff technical assistance to nonprofit organizations and movement leaders who are paving the road to liberation and harnessing a broader strategy of transformation and power building through civic engagement. While we, and our grantee partners, understand the importance of winning policy fights, the long-term prize is creating and sustaining a truly inclusive, participatory democracy with leaders who come from and reflect our communities and are rooted in progressive values of interconnectedness, structural inclusion, an economy for the common good, and liberation.
Expenses $3,065,504 · Grants $2,625,000
-
Groundswell Action Fund participates actively in 10 donor networks, in an effort to educate funders about the reproductive justice movement and to raise the visibility of our grantees. Staff make presentations at dozens of meetings and events annually, and regularly host educational events for the philanthropic community, to uplift grantees and to create opportunities for them to build relationships with funders.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
