Mission and programs · 2025

Mission

TISC students participate in positive, skill building experiences learning water safety, responsibility, respect, communication, teamwork, leadership, and appreciation for their environment. TISC is a large scale, multiuser, year round sailing school on San Francisco Bay operated by dedicated staff and volunteers, emphasizing full community involvement by offering access to all, regardless of financial ability.

Activities or mission (Part I)

Our mission is to create opportunities for people to learn and grow through sailing by providing facilities, sailing instruction, and access to the water for people of all socioeconomic backgrounds, abilities and skill levels from novice to the Olympian.

  • The Treasure Island Sailing Center provides instructional and recreational sailing opportunities to youth and adults of all abilities and socioeconomic backgrounds from the San Francisco Bay Area. However, the Board and management decided to pause operations and programs for two to three years, as the City of San Francisco has moved to rebuild the newest neighborhood of Treasure Island and to accelerate improvements in the new home center.

As filed on the 2025 return.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
