Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.

The filer's explanations (Part III)

PART I, LINE 1A
CERTAIN KEY EXECUTIVES ARE PROVIDED A BENEFITS STIPEND IN ORDER TO ALLOW FOR SELF-DIRECTED BENEFITS. THE EXECUTIVE BENEFITS PACKAGE ALSO INCLUDES AN OPTIONAL WELLNESS BENEFIT AND THE AVAILABILITY OF A PERSONAL FITNESS TRAINER. 11 EXECUTIVES UTILIZED THIS PARTICULAR BENEFIT. ALL OF THESE BENEFITS (COSTING $65,142) WERE INCLUDED IN THEIR 2022 FORMS W-2 AS COMPENSATION. NO PERSONS LISTED IN 990 PART VII TRAVELLED FIRST CLASS OR BY CHARTER. NO BOARD MEMBERS OR EXECUTIVES' SPOUSE MEAL OR TRAVEL COSTS WERE INCURRED AT THE APRIL 2023 ANNUAL BOARD RETREAT IN BATON ROUGE LA. FOR THE ENTIRE TAX YEAR, NO EXECUTIVES' SPOUSAL MEAL AND/OR AIRFARE COSTS FOR BUSINESS-RELATED TRAVEL WERE PAID BY THE TAXPAYER. THESE COSTS, WHEN INCURRED, ARE INCLUDED IN THE LISTED PERSONS' COMPENSATION. OFFICERS KEY EMPLOYEES AND 5 HIGHEST PAID EMPLOYEES LISTED IN PART II ARE EMPLOYED AND COMPENSATED BY GENERAL HEALTH SYSTEM (GHS). GENERAL HEALTH SYSTEM IS THE PARENT COMPANY OF BATON ROUGE GENERAL MEDICAL CENTER.
PART I, LINE 4B:
EXECUTIVES PARTICIPATE IN A NON-QUALIFIED DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN DESIGNED TO PROVIDE A RETIREMENT SUPPLEMENT. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES A PERCENT OF WAGES SUPPLEMENT. THE AMOUNT PROVIDED IS DIRECTED BY THE BOARD AND THE BOARD'S COMPENSATION COMMITTEE BASED ON MARKET DATA PROVIDED BY AN INDEPENDENT BENEFIT CONSULTING FIRM THAT CONDUCTS A REVIEW OF RETIREMENT FUNDING FOR EXECUTIVES IN COMPARABLE HEALTHCARE ORGANIZATIONS. FUNDS DEPOSITED BY THE ORGANIZATION HAVE A RISK OF FORFEITURE TIED TO SOLVENCY AND VESTING REQUIREMENTS. QUALIFYING EXECUTIVES RECEIVE LUMP SUM PAYMENTS AS THE RESULT OF THE VESTING OF RETIREMENT BENEFITS DEPOSITED ON THEIR BEHALF IN PREVIOUS YEARS. OTHER REPORTABLE COMPENSATION PAID TO PHYSICIAN BOARD MEMBERS INCLUDES MEDICAL PRACTICE INCOME AND CONTRACTUAL PAYMENTS FOR PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL SERVICES.
PART I, LINE 7:
IN ORDER TO MAKE HEALTHCARE COST EFFECTIVE AND OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY, VARIOUS EXECUTIVES LISTED IN PART VII SECTION A HAD PART OF THEIR COMPENSATION PUT AT RISK AND PAID IN THE FORM OF A PERFORMANCE INCENTIVE BASED UPON A BALANCED SCORECARD THAT FACTORED IN QUALITY, EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT, PATIENT EXPERIENCE AND FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP. SAID INCENTIVE PAYMENTS WERE APPROVED BY THE BOARD'S COMPENSATION COMMITTEE.

Part I's answers as filed. A line not listed was left unanswered; on lines 1a and 3 that means the box was not checked.
