Mission and programs · 2022
Mission
We're committed to improving the lives of all stray, abandoned, and abused animals who come to the Front Street Animal Shelter. We support programs needed to find loving homes and care for animals in need. We endeavor to support all pets in the region and the people who love them.
-
Our donors continued to show strong support in 2022 for the Front Street Animal Shelter and for our efforts to benefit pets and those who love them throughout the region. Friends of Front Street Shelter continued to see a heartwarming response from the public to our major fundraisers like the Big Day of Giving and Giving Tuesday. While much of our fundraising benefits the Front Street Shelter, we also focus on improving the lives of animals in the greater community. We spent over a quarter million dollars in 2022 to help pets stay in their homes by underwriting veterinary costs, benefiting all area shelters by reducing the need for owners to surrender their pets when they couldnt afford care. We continued to support Front Streets free vaccination and microchipping clinics that are available to all, regardless of their address or any requirement that they demonstrate need. We spent over $100,000 to sponsor a weekly spay and neuter clinic for community and feral cats at the Community Spay Neuter Clinic, benefiting almost 1,800 cats who could be returned to their neighborhoods or colonies without the risk of enlarging the population. For shelter pets, we spent well in excess of $100,000 to ensure that stray and surrendered pets received the best possible veterinary care from specialists and outside clinics. We spent in excess of $25,000 to support the needs of our own medical team by purchasing and maintaining lifesaving equipment. We continued a pioneering program to assist rescues who pull shelter animals by making cash grants to help defray the costs of veterinary care and behavioral assistance. And we continued to invest in the animal rescue groups who are so vital to the lifesaving mission of all area shelters, spending just shy of $100,000 for cash grants and for direct donations and sponsorships. We also continued our support for AdoptUs, an innovative program to help cover the cost of hospice adoptions for senior pets and pets with terminal conditions that still have love to give even if their lifespan is limited. We express our heartfelt thanks to our generous donors who make this and so much more possible.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
