Mission and programs · 2023
Mission
The Foundation strives to provide organized sports and recreation experiences for the youth of Yonkers, who otherwise would not be able to afford private sports leagues or play on a school team. The foundations sports and recreation programs keep young people engaged in positive youth development activities and reinforce the concept of discipline, leadership, teamwork and sportsmanship. The foundations programs also cultivate strong positive attitudes towards/with law enforcement with the goal being that of maturity, inclusiveness, and good citizenship.
Activities or mission (Part I)
The organizations mission is to engage the youth of the City of Yonkers by conducting different athletic programs.
-
The organizations sports and recreation programs include basketball, boxing, baseball, and volleyball programs for the children. Through these programs the youth of Yonkers build positive relationships with police officers and other volunteers. The organization also provides meals to the children who participated in the summer programs and snacks during the school year programs. - In partnership with the Yonkers Public Schools, Yonkers PAL facilitates the PEACE program, (Program for External Academic and Civil Engagement) an alternative educational setting for students having difficulty in the traditional classroom setting, focused on the SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) needs of each student in small group settings. - The Family Engagement Program seeks to bring togetherness amongst Yonkers families and the community. The organizations facilities also serve as a site during emergencies and natural disasters.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
