Mission and programs · 2022

Mission

As CLUE, we educate, organize, and mobilize the faith community to accompany workers and their families in their struggle for good jobs, dignity, and justice.

Activities or mission (Part I)

To further the work of building a just and sacred society, CLUE collaborates with over 600 religious leaders and 1200 lay people throughout the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. These congregations represent a broad range of ethnic and denominational constituencies. CLUE engages in Faith Rooted Organizing as a tool for advancing our mission, grounded in our beliefs. CLUE organizes religious leaders and their congregations using a hyper-local model of committees. Our team of faith-rooted organizers addresses worker justice in hospitality, healthcare, immigration, and a broad range of actions, and brings a moral voice to other select actions aligned with our mission.

  • Led interfaith efforts in morally grounded direct action to demand healthcare, pensions, just compensation, and other benefits for essential workers, including healthcare workers, grocery workers, and hospitality workers.-Worked with faith communities to bond individuals out of Adelanto Immigration Detention Center due to inhumane conditions in the prison.-Performed outreach to individuals disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 with PPE and information about COVID vaccines.-Provided sanctuary, witness, accompaniment and spiritual support to asylum-seekers, and unemployed and laid-off workers.

    Expenses $664,904

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
