Mission and programs · 2022
Primary exempt purpose
Durham For All is building a new majority 10,000 people strong -- a multiracial, cross-class progressive movement led by people of color and working-class people. Through grassroots organizing, leadership development, and political education, we take action together at the ballot box and in the streets to win back our government and put it to work -- for all of us.
-
Our Leadership Development, Mobilizing, and Electing program work in 2021 focused on the following campaigns: 10 to Transform & Build the Block: First, we lobbied Durham City Council and Durham County Board of Commissioners to invest in community safety programming for our communities. The City reallocated 5 positions from the Police Department to the new Department of Community Safety. The County made a $1 million investment in mental health services and expanded the Bull City United peer-to-peer violence interrupters outreach program. Then, we combined neighborhood-based organizing with election mobilization to call over 11,000 people and knocked on over 350 doors to ask community members to vote and volunteer with us in the City Council electionsSwing the State 2022: At the end of the year, we began to plan for our upcoming campaign and electoral organizing in 2022.
