Mission and programs · 2023
Mission
For charitable and scientific purposes dedicated to educating others about and preserving our coastal resources including the local habitats and wildlife.
-
Planning and implementing Coastal Wildlife Clubs Marine Turtle Monitoring Program, both on beaches included in contractual services and areas done on a volunteer basis, all permitted by Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission. Additionally, volunteers remove derelict traps from beaches and coordinate with the Florida Statewide Stranding and Salvage Network. Activities include on the beach training, gatherings and providing funding for registrations and travel for board of directors and volunteers to attend Symposia and conventions with the purpose of creating a professional cadre of turtle monitors. Data collection, report preparation and collaboration with local and state regulatory agencies as well as local, regional and national and international organizations help provide a system to monitor turtle nesting at local beaches in support of conservation efforts. Some activities continue to be impacted by residual effects of the 2019 Covid pandemic.
Expenses $62,240 · Grants $26,725 · Revenue $97,094
-
Collaborate and network activities with similar environmental conservation organizations including providing funds for sponsorship of meetings, some virtual.
Expenses $2,600 · Grants $1,825
-
Plan and implement programs of outreach and education which includes participation in festivals or events answering questions, displaying information and distributing free materials about our coastal resources and our sea turtle monitoring program to the general public. In addition, providing speakers for local community organizations, schools and other groups accompanied by displays and using a Powerpoint presentation. Educational materials to individuals and groups are provided upon request. Note: Due to the residual effects of the 2019 Covid pandemic, most of these events continued to be postponed during the majority of our 2023 season.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
