Mission

The mission of Stoughton Hospital is to provide safe, quality health care with exceptional personalized service.

Activities or mission (Part I)

Provide quality health care to meet the changing health care needs of the communities we serve.

  • Stoughton Hospital Association is an acute care, critical access hospital, fully accredited by DNV, licensed by the state of Wisconsin and a member of the Wisconsin Hospital Association and Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative. The Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient services to its patients. Inpatient services include medical/surgical, telemetry, intensive care, inpatient rehabilitative care (commonly referred to as swing bed) and geriatric psychiatry care. In 2025, there were 4,581 inpatient days. In addition to inpatient services, the Hospital provides a variety of outpatient services including emergency room care, urgent care, medical imaging (including in-house MRI services), surgical services, ambulatory infusion center, occupational health, rehabilitation services, (Statement continued on Schedule O)breast care services, cardiology, foot care, health screenings, lab, podiatry, sleep disorder services, vein treatment services and wound care services. To fulfill its mission of community service, the Hospital provides care to patients who meet certain criteria under its charity care policy without charge or at amounts less than its established rates. Revenue from services to these patients is recorded in the accounting system at the established rates, but the Hospital does not pursue collection of the amounts. The resulting adjustments are recorded as adjustments to patient service revenue, depending on the timing of the charity determination. The Hospital provides health care services to patients who meet certain criteria under its charity care policy without charge or at amounts less than established rates. Since the Hospital does not pursue collection of these amounts, they are not reported as revenue. The estimated cost of providing these services was $259,000 for the year ended September 30, 2025, which was determined based on an average ratio of cost to gross charges related to the services provided. Additionally, the Hospital extends discounts to uninsured patients. The estimated costs of providing services related to the discounts was $443,000 for the year ended September 30, 2025, which was determined based on an average ratio of cost to gross charges related to the services provided. In addition, the Hospital provides services to other patients under certain government-reimbursed public aid programs. Such programs pay providers amounts which are less than established charges for the services provided to the recipients, and for some services the payments are less than the cost of rendering the services provided. The Hospital also commits significant time and resources to endeavors and critical services which meet otherwise unfulfilled community needs. Many of these activities are sponsored with the knowledge that they will not be self-supporting or financially viable

    Expenses $57,017,878 · Revenue $77,876,964

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
