  • During Ramadan it's a tradition in the Islamic religion to prepare food packages for those in need. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic we wanted to continue this tradition and provide families with the same experience. However due to limited access to food supplies and delivery services Turkcha board decided to purchase $100 gift cards for 38 different families which they could use to purchase groceries. Additionally we included a packet of sweets to help them celebrate Eid and decorated their packages to add a personal touch. To further support those in need we also helped pay unpaid medical bills for some families totaling $275.

  • At our organization we are dedicated to supporting and empowering women including refugee women who face unique challenges. One such challenge is the lack of a driver's license which can limit their mobility and independence. To address this Turkcha provides driver's license lessons and covers the associated fees for women who need assistance. We even arrange for lessons with instructors who speak the same native language as the women to ease the language barrier. In 2021 we were able to help 22 women take driver's license lessons and obtain their licenses giving them greater freedom and opportunities for success.
