Mission and programs · 2024

Mission

To support the resilience and well-being of families and individuals in Pacifica and along the San Mateo County coast. In 2024-2025, PRC assisted one in five Pacifica families, stabilizing and fostering a healthy community.

Activities or mission (Part I)

Pacifica Resource Center is dedicated to supporting the resilience and well-being of families and individuals in Pacifica and along the San Mateo County coast. Its vision is that every person in its community lives with dignity and has the opportunity to thrive.

  • In fiscal year 2024-2025, PRC assisted one in five Pacifica families, supporting the well-being and resilience of its community.Grocery Programs: Groceries are a core basic need and a major expense for everyone. Through PRCs onsite pantry, at offsite grocery distributions, and by delivery, PRC provided groceries to benefit over 174,000 Pacifica children, adults, and seniors, including Thanksgiving assistance, helping the families PRC serves to feed their families and increase food security.

    Expenses $1,278,040

  • Homeless Programs: PRC is the point of entry for homeless services in Pacifica with the ultimate goal of helping unhoused individuals and families return to housing. Last year, PRC provided street outreach and engagement to 577 unhoused individuals and families in Pacifica and along the San Mateo County coast through Pescadero as part of PRC Unhoused on the Coast (UC) Outreach. Of those served, 22% returned to permanent (23) or temporary (108) housing, including the Pacifica Safe Parking Permit (PSPP) program that launched in June 2022. PRC also provided 684 showers to unhoused Pacificans, helping them prepare for work, job interviews and housing search.

    Expenses $951,732

  • Critical Family Needs: As part of providing a safe place to problem solve with families and individuals for solutions and opportunities that work for them, PRC provided baby formula, diapers, and wipes for 207 babies and their families; bus tickets, taxi vouchers, car repairs, and help with registration and insurance for 284 Pacificans to help them get to and from work, school, and medical appointments; clothing for 154 Pacificans to help them get and stay prepared for work or school; and, access to a computer, printer, fax, and phone, as well as information and referrals, for anyone who needed it.

    Expenses $163,154

  • Economic Security Program: PRC incorporates financial coaching throughout all of its services, exploring creative ways to help the families PRC serves to meet their needs. Through its Earn It Keep It Save It tax services, PRC prepared taxes for 250 households, generating over $361,000 in refunds and saving taxpayers nearly $65,000 in tax preparation fees. In addition, 14% of taxpayers with a refund saved a portion of their returns in an interest-bearing account to begin and extend their savings. PRC also helped prepare 216 Pacifica youth for school with backpacks and gift cards for school supplies and provided holiday joy to 243 children from 115 families, helping families increase their budget for other expenses by covering these costs.

    Expenses $135,962

  • Housing Assistance: Housing is key to the stability of all families and individuals PRC serves. Last year, PRC helped 223 Pacificans access over $280,000 in emergency financial assistance for past due rent, mortgage, deposit, and utility assistance so that they can stay housed and prevent them from becoming homeless.

    Expenses $108,769

  • Fiscal Sponsorship. During the fiscal year, a project to provide outreach services to communicate Peninsula Clean Energys key messages to Coastside Farmers Market's audience began.

    Expenses $81,577

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
