  • Public Education: ICF is committed to educating the public about the importance of protecting Indiana's environment. Through public forums and events, media outreach, door-to-door canvassing, a website that it will create, a newsletter and educational mailers, ICF will communicate with the public to raise awareness of climate change, pollution, land protection, and environmental justice issues facing Indiana. The Corporation will conduct an outreach campaign to educate Indiana journalists about a variety of current environmental issues to draw attention to solutions to conservation and environmental justice challenges. Approximately 40% of the organization's time and expenses will be allocated to this effort. Community Building: ICF seeks to build a stronger conservation community in Indiana by convening allied organizations to collaborate on shared goals and strategies. We will seek to develop common-ground solutions on issues affecting Hoosiers living in every part of our state, including on clean water, climate change, and air pollution. Approximately 30% of the organization's time and expenses will be spent on this activity. Skills Training: The Corporation will provide skills-building workshops for people throughout the state. Partnering with allied organizations, ICF will create curricula and workshops that provide citizens the skills necessary to solve environmental problems in their communities, whether in Indiana's cities or farm towns. Trainings will include message development, working with the media, and grassroots organizing, all with a goal of empowering people to promote and secure changes that will conserve Indiana's air, water, and land, and achieve environmental justice for its people. Approximately 10% of ICF's time and expenses will be spent on this skills training. Public Policy: ICF will help create and promote policies to protect Indiana's clean air, safe water, natural places, and public health. The Corporation aims to influence the state's policy by testifying at public hearings regarding conservation, submitting comments regarding proposed administrative actions, educating policymakers about specific environmental treasures and problems, and lobbying on proposed legislation (within the limits imposed by I.R.C. sections 501(c)(3), 501(h) and 4911). Approximately 10% of ICF's time and expenses will be spent on these various efforts to influence public policy. Voter Registration and Participation: The Corporation may conduct nonpartisan voter registration and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) activities aimed at encouraging citizens to participate in the civic process. Assistance in registering to vote would be done regardless of an individual's party affiliation, and regardless of how they are expected to vote. Nonpartisan GOTV activities carried out by ICF will not indicate a preference for any candidate or party and assistance will be provided without regard to party affiliation or candidate preference. ICF will spend approximately 10% of its time and expenses on these efforts.
