Mission and programs · 2023
Mission
Working with youth and older neighborhood artists to develop a sense of community, leadership skills, ceramic artistic skills, beautifying the neighborhood and the knowledge that they can grow and accomplish what they want to do in life.
Activities or mission (Part I)
After school and summer program for youth to learn and create neighborhood art.
-
After School Program: This program had 35 youths and 8 adults teaching the youth the ceramic art process. This includes making the tiles, inscribing the tiles, using different glazes to color the tiles and then arranging for use in different projects; after they are fired in the kiln.
Expenses $100,499
-
Ceramic Art Program:This program had 45 youth and 8 adults working on the ceramic tile projects which included obelisks for a park, 12 bollards for Cesar Chavez Drive and the VFW flag for El Rey Market. The bollard and VFW projects were well attended and had 3 local TV stations filming parts of the installation. Several Alderpersons were in attendance and spoke highly of the projects. This gave the youth a chance to talk to the announcers about La Familia and its programs. Local newspaper reporters were also in attendance and wrote articles with input from the youth. The artists also went to churches, schools and food markets to get people to make ceramic tile inscriptions relating to the pandemic. All of these opportunities helped the artists grow in confidence and learn good social interactions.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
