Mission and programs · 2023

Mission

Free Arts programs inspire hope in the lives of children who have experienced abuse, neglect, poverty and homelessness through innovative creative arts programs and positive interactions with caring adult volunteers. Free Arts envisions a society of individuals from different communities, cultures and life experiences connecting through the healing power of art to interrut the cycle of violence, create understanding, build self-esteem and nurture better lives.

Activities or mission (Part I)

Free Arts programs inspire hope in the lives of children who have experienced abuse, neglect, poverty and homelessness through innovative creative arts programs and positive interactions with caring adult volunteers.

  • Free Arts uses art to restore hope, resiliency and self-esteem in children in Los Angeles ages 4-18 who have experienced abuse, neglect, poverty and homelessness. Free Arts creates a safe environment where children can feel, understand and express their emotions and begin to recover and gain a sense of mastery and empowerment. We pair children with adult mentors who guide them through their journey of recovery, and serve as a positive role model with whom the child has a beneficial, rather than traumatic relationship.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
