Mission
Hillsboro Farmers Markets creates community gathering-places for people to buy local produce and products. We partner with farms, small businesses, and groups to provide education and resources. Our efforts strive to enhance community health and economic growth.
-
FARMERS MARKETS: We operate 3 farmers markets in Hillsboro, Oregon. Two we run each weekend from Spring until Fall. One we run the second week of each month fron Spring until Fall. We provide active venues and market support to hundreds of local farmers, artisans and other vendors to sell produce and products. Our markets attract an average of 7,000 shoppers each week, boosting the local economy while providing residents of USDA low-income and low-access areas with access to fresh foods. Our markets also provide local nonprofits, artists and educational and civic organizations dynamic spaces for interacting with, educating and supporting diverse members of the Hillsboro community in an equitable, inclusive and sustainable manner.
Expenses $191,536
-
FOOD ACCESS PROGRAMS: Our SNAP Match program (utilizing tokens spent at our farmers markets) provided important nutrition support to food-insecure populations in our community. Last year SNAP Match program was awarded $35,700. in Double Up Food Bucks. Our Veterans Match program made an important difference in the lives of Hillsboros military veterans by increasing their ability to purchase healthy, local food.
Expenses $52,000
-
MARKET SPROUTS (KIDS PROGRAM): This program provides children with hands-on, interactive activities focused on strengthening connections to healthy eating and local food systems. Activities included salad making, rainbow food scavenger hunts, and seed identification, among many others. Children under three years old engaged with agriculture themed sensory bins.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
