Mission and programs · 2023

Mission

We are a Catholic, family, fraternal, service organization dedicated to the values and faith of the Roman Catholic Church through the activities of members and their councils that promote charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism.

  • Local councils participate in fundraisers, such as the annual fundraisers where candy, often a Tootsie Roll, is offered to the public and free-will donations are received. The high visibility of this program has led to the campaign being referred to as the Tootsie Roll Drive. The local councils pass these donations on to the Council and can designate these contributions to Special Olympics and other qualifying charities. During fiscal year 2024 contributions were made to support intellectual disabilities of $371,302, Pennies for Seminaries which support the education of seminarians to the priesthood of $66,768, the Jim Campbell Scholarship program of $18,350, wheelchair mission of $16,500, and Gods gift of life of $6,657.

    Expenses $479,577 · Grants $432,540

  • The general program expenses relate to member activities including state and national meetings, ceremonies and incentives, newsletters, service projects, support, and planning activities.

    Expenses $362,126 · Grants $8,527 · Revenue $33,173

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
