Mission and programs · 2023

Mission

THE FOUNTAINS PURPOSE IS TO PROMOTE INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING OF ORIGINAL NATIONS PEOPLE AND THEIR TERRITORIES, WHICH ENABLE PEOPLE TO DEVELOP AN APPRECIATION FOR OTHER SOCIETIES, THEIR TRADITIONS AND CULTURE. WITH THE RECOGNITION THAT INDIGENOUS LANDS ARE AT THE GREATEST RISK OF EXPLOITATION AND DEVELOPMENT, THE FOUNTAIN IS DEDICATED TO HELPING TO PROTECT THESE LANDS WHICH CONTAIN APPROXIMATELY 80% OF THE WORLD'S BIOCULTURAL DIVERSITY THROUGH CONTRIBUTIONS TO INDIGENOUS LAND TRUSTS AND/OR OTHER STEWARDSHIP MODELS THAT ARE ACTIVATED TO PRESERVE THESE TERRITORIES.

  • SACRED ECONOMICS: OUR ENTIRE IMPULSE IS TO SHIFT ECONOMICS AWAY FROM THE COMMODITY DRIVEN PROFIT-LINE-AT-THE-EXPENSE-OF-THE-EARTH-AND-MANY-LIVING- BEINGS MODEL TO ONE WHERE THE WISDOM EMBEDDED IN THE ORIGINAL NATIONS PEOPLE IS SEEN AS VALUABLE, AND EVEN ESSENTIAL, IN THE PRESERVATION AND REGENERATION OF THIS PLANET.

    Expenses $66,176 · Grants $21,344 · Revenue $14,416

  • FISCAL SPONSORSHIP: FISCAL SPONSORSHIP IS ABOUT PRACTICING ONE OF THE ORIGINAL PRINCIPLES OF RELATIONS. EARLY IN OUR YEARS AS A COMMUNITY THE DIVINE TOLD US THAT IF YOU START WITH THE SEED OF IT ALL, AND THE SEED OF IT ALL IS ABOUT RELATIONS, THEN EVERYTHING WILL UNFOLD NATURALLY FROM THERE. THE FOUNTAIN, THROUGHOUT ITS HISTORY, HAS BEEN A PLACE OF INCUBATION. DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS AND MOVEMENTS COME SO THAT THEY CAN BE HELD AS THEY GROW AND DEVELOP AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN THAT WILL ALLOW THEIR WORK IN THE WORLD FOR MOTHER EARTH AND ALL HER CREATION IN A CONSISTENT AND STRONG WAY. THEREFORE, AS WE ENTER INTO A FISCAL SPONSORSHIP, WE WILL NEED TO INDIVIDUALLY ORGANIZE THAT RELATIONSHIP SO AS THEY GROW AND DEVELOP, WE ALL STAY CONSISTENT WITH OUR LEGAL AND ETHICAL OBLIGATIONS AND MEET THE CORE PRINCIPLES THAT ARE THE FOUNDATION OF THE FOUNTAIN. THE FISCAL SPONSORSHIP AND THE AGREEMENTS WE CREATE WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE LEVEL OF SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE FOUNTAIN TO THE ORGANIZATION ENTERING INTO THE FISCAL SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT. THE BREAKDOWN FOR WHAT IS REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN COMPLIANCE IS IN THE INDIVIDUAL FISCAL SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT.

    Expenses $27,746 · Grants $27,211

  • SACRED CULTURES: IN WORKING WITH ORIGINAL NATIONS, WE LEARN AND FOLLOW THEIR CULTURAL PROTOCOLS TO ENSURE THAT RESPECT AND UNDERSTANDING FOSTER HEALTHY RELATIONS. A PROJECT FOR THE PAGAMENTOS AND FOUR PILLARS HAPPENED IN OCTOBER 2023 WHEN THE FOUNTAIN WAS ABLE TO FUND A DELEGATION FROM THE KGGABA NATION TO BEGIN THE FOUR PILLARS WORK STARTING WITH THE SNOWY PEAKS GREENLAND AND ICELAND. PAGAMENTOS ARE SPECIFIC PRAYERS AND OFFERINGS TO THE GUARDIAN SPIRITS OF THE SACRED SITES DONE BY THE KGGABA TO HELP SUPPORT THE BALANCE OF MOTHER EARTH. WITH THE LAKOTA PEOPLES, WE SUPPORT A GARDEN PROJECT THAT GROWS FOOD FOR THE COMMUNITY, A SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM, AND A YEARLY SUNDANCE CEREMONY.

    Expenses $10,280 · Grants $607

  • SACRED LANDS: WE WORK WITH ORIGINAL NATIONS TO HONOR, RESPECT, AND HELP PROTECT THEIR TRADITIONAL HOMELANDS THROUGH PROJECTS AND LAND TRUSTS THAT PUT THE LAND BACK INTO THE ORIGINAL PEOPLES STEWARDSHIP. CURRENTLY, WE ARE WORKING WITH THE THE MAMOS OF THE KGGABA NATION OF LA SIERRA NEVADA OF SANTA MARTHA AND HAVE SECURED FOUR OF NINE LAND TRUSTS IN THEIR NAME. ADDITIONALLY, WE HAVE HELPED THE KGGABA INITIATE A RESEARCH CENTER, A TAPIR RESTORATION PROJECT, AND GUINEA PIG FARMING PROJECT, ALL WITH THE INTENTION TO HELP PRESERVE BIODIVERSITY ON THEIR SACRED LANDS. WE ALSO WORK WITH MEMBERS OF THE LAKOTA NATION RESEARCHING WAYS TO BEGIN A SIMILAR LANDBACK PROGRAM WITH THEM IN THE BLACK HILLS, SOUTH DAKOTA. THE BLACK HILLS IS THE SACRED TERRITORY OF THE LAKOTA PEOPLE AND HAS BEEN TAKEN AND COMMODIFIED AT THE EXPENSE OF THE HEALTH OF THE LAND AND THE ORIGINAL PEOPLES OF THAT LAND.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
