Mission
The mission of Leap to Success is to educate and empower women who are overcoming domestic violence, homelessness, and other major life challenges to reach their greatest potential.
-
Leap to Success provides empowerment and leadership programs for women who are recovering from domestic violence, homelessness, addiction, and other challenges. This year, we expanded our capabilities and are now training and licensing other organizations across the country to use our innovative curriculum. Since the pandemic, most of our programming is taking place online via Zoom This has proved to be a more convenient way for the women we serve to attend. Previously, barriers to attend our programs included finding childcare and transportation. Those barriers no longer exist. Women now connect to our classes from their living rooms, kitchen tables, transitional living locations, and even while parked in their cars--- to build confidence, improve their communication skills and be part of an ongoing sisterhood of support. During 2022, we enriched the lives of 1,540 people through our programs and events. We served 306 clients in programs and 1,234 staff and community members through presentations and special events. Our foundational program, Leap to Confidence and our advanced program, Transformation Leadership, were offered at no cost to women who were referred by more than 40 agencies including Center for Community Solutions, Father Joes Villages, Interfaith Community Services, Jewish Family Service, Mental Health Systems, and San Diego Housing Commission. Our programs, accomplishments, and activities included:1. In Leap to Confidence, a six-week personal leadership program, 182 women built more confidence to move forward in their lives towards becoming self-reliant. The top three areas of growth the graduates achieved were: 1) Higher self-esteem, 49% growth, 2) Empowered to make their own choices, 48% growth, 3) Confidence in their abilities, 46% growth. The power of Leap to Confidence is illustrated beautifully by graduate, Tarlease. When I first walked into the classroom, I wasnt sure I could do it. But the staff create such an atmosphere of trust. Youre seen, youre heard, and you matter. Step by step as a mother, sister, aunt, and friend, I became a better person. 2. The Empowerment Circle support group, available to all Leap to Confidence graduates, was held twice a week to provide additional support to women to help them feel part of the community of encouragement and growth. 95 women participated an average of 11 times each. 3. Ten women graduated the nine-month long Transformation Leadership program. In this program, women develop public speaking and leadership skills through various assignments and activities. Graduates help conduct community outreach for Leap to Success as they share their inspiring stories of overcoming to bring greater awareness to domestic violence, recovery from substance abuse, and homelessness and resources available to help.4. New Offerings:a. Leap to Confidence Trainer Certification trains people how to deliver the powerful Leap to Confidence program. The certification process is multi-step and is a fee for service offering. This first year, two organizations sent staff to the program to learn the curriculum and how to effectively deliver it to the women they serve. b. Leap to Confidence for Helping Professionals launched. It is targeted to professionals who provide front-line support to people experiencing hardship and crisis. It is also a fee for service offering. The first program was delivered in the fall and had 15 individuals from 6 different social service organizations in attendance.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
