Mission and programs · 2022

Primary exempt purpose

Provide college preparatory tutoring and life skills training for K-12 homeschooled students.

  • Our #1 expense is payments to our tutors and support staff. Tutoring sessions are held three days per week, increasing accessibility for the homeschool community. Tutoring sessions meet once or twice per week, allowing students valuable time with tutors and also teaching time management. Tutors are employed based on their unique skills to provide a high-quality program to the homeschool community. Berea Academy utilizes a traditional school year, beginning in September and ending in May, with the year divided into two semester blocks. The entire format is designed to provide the homeschool student a group learning experience to enhance their home learning environment.

    Expenses $124,558

  • Our #2 expense is for supplies. These include non-consumables such as curriculum/books, white boards, computers, projectors, copiers, tables, and chairs, as well as consumables such as cleaning supplies, writing utensils, paper, toner, whiteboard markers, ID tags, etc.

    Expenses $22,404

  • Our #3 expense is rent and liability insurance. Berea Academy meets in Southgate Church, a centrally located facility with convenient highway access. Berea Academy's student population comes from St. Louis County, St. Louis City, St. Charles County, Jefferson County, and Franklin County in Missouri, as well as areas of Illinois. Our central location provides the opportunity for homeschoolers from across the region to build relationships socially and academically in a safe and secure environment.
