WE ADVISE, AMPLIFY AND ADVOCATE FOR STRENGTHENING AND UNIFYING THE ARTS AND HISTORY COMMUNITY OF COLUMBIA, SC.

  • IN YEAR TWO, THE TECH THEATER PROGRAM CONTINUED TO CHALLENGE THE INEQUITABLE BARRIERS TO ACCESS IN THE STAGECRAFT FIELD. AFTER A VERY SUCCESSFUL YEAR ONE, WE WERE ABLE TO BUILD ON THE PROGRAM FOR YEAR TWO. THE PROJECT WAS FUNDED THROUGH A CONNECTED COMMUNITIES GRANT FROM THE CENTRAL CAROLINA COMMUNITY FUND AND A GRANT FROM THE SOUTH CAROLINA ARTS COMMISSION. PARTICIPANTS WERE ABLE TO ACQUIRE SKILLS TO PURSUE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THEATER AND PERFORMANCE VENUES THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN A SERIES OF TECHNICAL THEATER TRAINING WORKSHOPS AND APPRENTICESHIPS EXPERIENCES. IN ADDITION TO ACCESS AND EQUITABLE OUTCOMES, WE WILL BE CREATING A CURRICULUM THAT ALIGNS WITH STATE EDUCATION STANDARDS OF SOUTH CAROLINA. THE PARTICIPANTS WERE ALSO ABLE TO WALK AWAY WITH EMPLOYABLE SKILLS AND A PORTFOLIO TO PRESENT TO FUTURE EMPLOYERS.

  • IN COLLABORATION WITH THE SC ARTS COMMISSION, ONE COLUMBIA ADMINISTERED A STATEWIDE PROGRAM CALLED THE ARTIST ENTREPRENEUR INCUBATOR, WHICH FOCUSED ON STRENGTHENING THE ARTS BUSINESS ACROSS THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA. THE ONLINE SERIES ENGAGED PARTICIPANTS IN THE FOLLOWING WORK SESSIONS: INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS PLANNING FOR CREATIVES, DEFINING YOUR ARTISTIC VISION AND GOALS, MARKET ANALYSIS AND CUSTOMER SEGMENTATION, AND FINANCIAL PLANNING AND FORECASTING. IN ADDITION TO THE WEEKLY MEETINGS, EACH PARTICIPANT HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN INDIVIDUAL CONSULTATIONS TO CLARIFY AND RECEIVE ONE ON ONE ATTENTION FOR SPECIFIC AREAS OF GROWTH.

IT IS AN APT SYMBOL FOR THE UNSUNG HEROES IN OUR MIDST, WHOSE CONTRIBUTIONS MAY GO UNRECOGNIZED, BUT ARE CRITICAL TO OTHERS' SUCCESS, SUCH AS THE PIONEERING ARTISTS AND CREATIVE PEOPLE WHO HAVE MADE THE VISTA NEIGHBORHOOD THEIR HOME AND WORKPLACE OVER THE YEARS. Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
