Mission and programs · 2023

Mission

San Francisco Transit Riders is the city's rider-based grassroots advocate forworld-class transit. Together with our members we work for an excellent, affordable, and growing public transit system because it is essential to thecharacter and soul of San Francisco.

  • Advocacy: We work to build the future of public transportation in San Francisco by engaging transit riders in advocacy efforts to improve the quality of transit. This includes attending public meetings, working with government officials, hosting forums, and educating everyday riders on how to be a transit advocate. During 2022, we focused on several projects that will drastically improve transit for thousands of San Franciscans. This includes advocating for transit that provides equitable access to resources, opportunities, and each other. We also advocated for transit priority lanes and service restoration as a result of the global pandemic. Additionally, we hosted a successful Transit Month, engaging thousands of daily transit riders to promote a positive culture on transit and strengthened our relationship with neighborhood groups and transportation allies.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
