Mission

Veterans Healing Farm enhances the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of our nation's Veterans and their families.

Activities or mission (Part I)

Veterans Healing Farm (VHF) enhances the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of our nation's Veterans and their families.

  • Veteran Support - In 2022, the VHF hosted the largest Veteran event in Western North Carolina, the Veterans Resource Fair, which included 28 different Veteran-centric organizations and over 300 attendees. We expanded our produce donation locations to include the Veterans Restoration Quarters, a 180-bed homeless shelter for male Veterans. We also provided breakfast to 93 Veterans and their escorts for the Blue Ridge Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. The VHF also hired a part-time North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist who worked with 4 Veterans to establish individual goals.

    Expenses $166,814

  • Farm Operations - In 2022, the VHF grew and donated a total of 6500 pounds of produce including tomatoes, eggplant, bell peppers, okra, cucumbers, butternut squash, green beans, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, kale, onions, cabbage, and broccoli, and sweet potatoes. Our Bee Squad set a record in honey production (220 bottles) and added four new members.

  • Workshops - In 2022, the VHF tripled the number of pre-pandemic workshops and events (28), refocusing on mental health, and serving over 250 in our Veteran community. We also brought in three suicide prevention workshops for the entire community training 35 people in this critical, life-saving skill. We held three, full-day medicinal herb workshops addressing sleep disorders, anxiety, inflammation, first-aid, and general health, with 67 in attendance.

As filed on the 2022 return.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
