Mission
TO ASSURE THE BUILDING AND STRENGTHENING OF THE JEWISH COMMUNITY LOCALLY, NATIONALLY, OVERSEAS AND IN ISRAEL, IN ACCORDANCE WITH JEWISH VALUES.
-
FOR 105 YEARS, THE JEWISH FEDERATION OF GREATER PORTLAND HAS CONTINUED TO FULFILL ITS MISSION TO SERVE AND STRENGTHEN OUR JEWISH COMMUNITY. THANKS TO THE EXTRAORDINARY GENEROSITY OF OUR DONORS, THE JEWISH FEDERATION WORKED TIRELESSLY IN 20242025 TO ADVANCE JEWISH LIFE LOCALLY AND AROUND THE WORLD, WHILE MEETING BOTH EMERGING AND ONGOING COMMUNITY NEEDS. IN 20242025, THE FEDERATION BUILT UPON THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE JEWISH COMMUNITY STUDY WHILE CONTINUING TO RESPOND TO THE LASTING IMPACT OF OCTOBER 7. THE COMMUNITY REMAINED UNITED IN SOLIDARITY WITH ISRAEL AND IN ITS COMMITMENT TO SAFETY, RESILIENCE, AND CONNECTION. KEY INITIATIVES INCLUDED THE ANNUAL CAMPAIGN FOR COMMUNITY NEEDS, CONTINUED SUPPORT THROUGH THE ISRAEL EMERGENCY FUND, AND TARGETED INVESTMENTS TO STRENGTHEN SECURITY, COMBAT ANTISEMITISM, AND EXPAND PROGRAMS THAT FOSTER JEWISH ENGAGEMENT ACROSS ALL AGES. THROUGH THE GENEROSITY OF THOUSANDS OF CONTRIBUTORS AND STRATEGIC PHILANTHROPIC PARTNERSHIPS, THE FEDERATION CONTINUED TO MOBILIZE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO SUPPORT ESSENTIAL SERVICES, EDUCATION, SOCIAL CONNECTION, AND CARE FOR VULNERABLE POPULATIONS LOCALLY, IN ISRAEL, AND AROUND THE WORLD. THIS WORK IS MADE POSSIBLE BY DEDICATED VOLUNTEER LEADERS, COMMUNAL PROFESSIONALS, AND THE UNWAVERING SUPPORT OF OUR DONORS, ENSURING A STRONG, VIBRANT, AND SECURE JEWISH FUTURE FOR GREATER PORTLAND.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: JEWISH FEDERATION OUTREACH PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO ENGAGE AND CONNECT INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WITHIN THE JEWISH COMMUNITY AND THE BROADER PUBLIC. THESE PROGRAMS AIM TO FOSTER INCLUSIVITY, STRENGTHEN COMMUNAL BONDS, AND INCREASE PARTICIPATION IN JEWISH LIFE. SPECIFIC INITIATIVES TARGET UNAFFILIATED INDIVIDUALS, INTERFAITH FAMILIES, SENIORS, YOUNG ADULTS, AND NEWCOMERS, OFFERING PROGRAMS SUCH AS EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS, CULTURAL EVENTS, HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS, AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES. OUTREACH EFFORTS ALSO INCLUDE PROMOTING JEWISH IDENTITY AND VALUES THROUGH EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL PROGRAMMING, FOSTERING INTERFAITH DIALOGUE TO COMBAT ANTISEMITISM, AND BUILDING COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER CULTURAL AND FAITH-BASED ORGANIZATIONS. VOLUNTEERISM AND COMMUNITY SERVICE ARE INTEGRAL COMPONENTS, ENCOURAGING ACTIVE PARTICIPATION AND SUPPORT FOR BOTH JEWISH AND BROADER COMMUNITY NEEDS.
Expenses $580,708
-
JEWISH COMMUNITY RELATIONS COUNCIL: THE JEWISH COMMUNITY RELATIONS COUNCIL (JCRC) REPRESENTS THE ORGANIZED JEWISH COMMUNITY OF NORTHWEST OREGON AND SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON ON MATTERS OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE. AS THE PUBLIC AFFAIRS COORDINATING AND ADVISORY BODY, THE JCRC DEVELOPS AND ARTICULATES CONSENSUS POSITIONS ON KEY ISSUES AFFECTING ITS CONSTITUENCY. ITS MISSION IS TO FOSTER MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING AMONG DIVERSE GROUPS WITHIN THE GREATER COMMUNITY, PROMOTE DEMOCRATIC PLURALISM, AND ENCOURAGE HARMONIOUS RELATIONSHIPS BUILT ON RESPECT FOR HUMAN DIGNITY AND INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS ACROSS RELIGIOUS, RACIAL, AND ETHNIC LINES. COMPRISED OF A CROSS-SECTION OF PORTLAND'S JEWISH COMMUNITY, INCLUDING REPRESENTATIVES FROM AREA ORGANIZATIONS AND SYNAGOGUES, THE JCRC SERVES AS A UNIFYING VOICE AND ADVOCATE FOR THE REGION'S JEWISH POPULATION.THE JCRC FOCUS MUCH OF ITS WORK ON SAFEGUARDING THE SOCIAL SAFETY NET, ADDRESSING SOCIETAL ILLS SUCH AS HOMELESSNESS, COMBATING ANTISEMITISM AND OTHER FORMS OF BIGOTRY AND MOBILIZING THE JEWISH COMMUNITY TO RESPOND TO CLIMATE CHANGE.
Expenses $343,273
-
COMMUNITY PLANNING AND COORDINATION: COMMUNITY PLANNING AND COORDINATION IS DESIGNED TO STRATEGICALLY ADDRESS THE NEEDS, PRIORITIES, AND ASPIRATIONS OF THE JEWISH COMMUNITY IT SERVES. THIS PROGRAM ENSURES THE LONG-TERM VIBRANCY, RESILIENCE, AND SUSTAINABILITY OF THE COMMUNITY BY ALIGNING RESOURCES, ORGANIZATIONS, AND INITIATIVES TOWARD SHARED GOALS. KEY COMPONENTS INCLUDE CONDUCTING REGULAR NEEDS ASSESSMENTS TO IDENTIFY EVOLVING CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES IN AREAS SUCH AS EDUCATION, SOCIAL SERVICES, CULTURAL PROGRAMMING, AND ADVOCACY. BASED ON THESE INSIGHTS, THE PROGRAM SETS STRATEGIC PRIORITIES, SUCH AS INCREASING ACCESS TO JEWISH EDUCATION, ENHANCING ELDER CARE SERVICES, OR DEVELOPING INITIATIVES TO COMBAT ANTISEMITISM. COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL SYNAGOGUES, SCHOOLS, AND ORGANIZATIONS ENSURES THAT PROGRAMS ARE ALIGNED WITH THE COMMUNITYS VISION WHILE AVOIDING DUPLICATION OF EFFORTS. ADDITIONALLY, THE PROGRAM OVERSEES THE EQUITABLE ALLOCATION OF FEDERATION FUNDS TO SUPPORT IMPACTFUL INITIATIVES, EMPHASIZING TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY. BY ENGAGING DIVERSE VOICES ACROSS THE COMMUNITY, THE PROGRAM FOSTERS INCLUSIVITY AND ENSURES THAT PLANNING EFFORTS REFLECT THE COLLECTIVE INTERESTS AND ASPIRATIONS OF ALL ITS MEMBERS.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
