Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.

The filer's explanations (Part III)

Schedule J, Part I, Line 3 Arrangement used to establish the top management official's compensation
The AONL Foundation President is an executive of the American Hospital Association (AHA) and reports to the AHA COO EVP. The AHA COO EVP participates in setting goals for performance of the AONL Foundation President and in measuring performance against these goals. The AHA Executive Compensation Committee (Committee) is composed of the members of the Executive Committee of the AHA Board of Trustees excluding the AHA President. The Committee does not include any individual whose compensation it reviews. The Committee engages an independent compensation consultant to produce annual comparable salary data for the AHA executive serving as the AONL Foundation President as appropriate, and makes recommendations for compensation adjustments, consistent with existing compensation agreements, policies and procedures. On an annual basis, the Committee evaluates the compensation of the AHA executive serving as the AONL Foundation President based on the annual market assessment completed by the independent compensation consultant. The AHA COO EVP evaluates the performance of the AHA executive serving as the AONL Foundation's President against annual performance goals and determines any earned performance-based reward. The final compensation package of the AHA executive serving as the AONL Foundation's President is documented in a written employment agreement.
