Mission
Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County, Inc (HFH) is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to expand affordable housing opportunities by partnering with people in our community. Applicants qualify for Habitat's homeownership program by meeting three criteria: -Need for housing-All applicants demonstrate that they are currently living in substandard, unaffordable and/or overcrowded conditions. -Ability to pay-Applicants must be able to pay an affordable mortgage which is less than 30% of the household income. Household income should fall between 35-80% of the area median income. -Willingness to partner-Each non-dependent adult who will live in the Habitat home is required to invest a minimum of 250 hours of sweat equity. Sweat equity includes, but is not limited to, taking mandatory homeownership and financial readiness courses, volunteering on the construction site, and working in Habitat's ReStore.

-
Homeownership Program: Families in need of a decent place to live, build safe and affordable homes in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County. Habitat houses are moderately sized; they are large enough for the homeowner family's needs, but small enough to keep construction and maintenance costs affordable. By using the labor of volunteers and prospective homeowners, employing efficient building methods, keeping house sizes modest, using donated construction materials and appliances, and financing its own loans, Habitat makes its houses affordable for low-income families to purchase. Owning an affordable home allows homeowners to lift up their entire family by saving for their futures, investing in educational opportunities, and supporting career growth. During fiscal year 2025, Habitat sold eight homes, financed with affordable mortgages and housing 25 individuals.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
