Mission and programs · 2024
Mission
Our mission is to honor veterans and educate their legacy. We do so by raising money for DEA-qualified students and then contributing it to post-secondary institutions that agree to match our donation, administer the scholarship program, and report back to us annually.
-
VPF has one program, partnerships with higher education institutions to create matched scholarships. Spring end-of-year reporting from VPF partner institutions showed 600 students received $1.43 million in scholarships in the 2024-25 academic year at 35 partner institutions. 42 partners are matching over $900,000 to create $1.8 million in scholarships for approximately 700 students in the 2025-26 academic year.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
