Strategic focus areas for all programming include economic development, vocational skill development, learning opportunities, and immigrant and health support. Current constituents include day laborers, domestic workers, low-income adults, and youth from 2nd to 10th grade. Activities or mission (Part I)

The Multicultural Institutes (MI) mission is to accompany immigrants in their transaction from poverty and isolation to workforce participation and prosperity. MI offers programs that benefit immigrants and low-income families in accessing education, health, immigration, and legal resources, along with job placement assistance and basic service needs.

  • Life Skills/Day Laborer and Domestic Worker Program: Program provides participants with workforce development services like employment training, job placement, housing and vocational training. Each year, over 2,000 different workers were involved in this program and participated in one or more of the following activities: workforce related workshops, job placements, housing, and vocational/skill development opportunities. Immigration and Health Support: MI offers naturalization courses that prepare green card holders who qualify to apply for citizenship exam preparation assistance, interview practice and application assistance. In addition, MI offers comprehensive health workshops, screenings, and food distribution every week. Nearly 1,000 individuals benefit from these wrap around services throughout the year. GED Preparation Program: MI's General Educational Development (GED) Preparation course helps adults meet employers' hiring criteria, achieve self-sufficiency, and contribute to their community's growth. This program empowers an average of 60 economically disadvantaged adults throughout the year.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
