Activities or mission (Part I)
Carbon mappers mission is to help drive the world toward direct, comprehensive, transparent global GHG monitoring to facilitate science-based decision making and reduce GHG emissions. To accelerate global climate action, Carbon Mapper uses satellite and (continued on Schedule O)
-
Carbon Mapper was formed in 2020 with the goal to improve global monitoring of methane and carbon dioxide. To do this we use remote sensing technology to detect, pinpoint and quantify methane emissions at the scale of individual facilities. To deliver on these goals Carbon Mapper leads a public-private partnership program to catalyze a global climate data service for the mitigation of methane and carbon dioxide emissions using satellite and airborne remote sensing data. Carbon Mappers role in the public-private partnership is to manage the demonstration and technology transfer phase of this program, and to provide long-term stewardship of a global data portal for methane and CO2 data dissemination as well as research, outreach and advocacy programs. In Phase 1, the Carbon Mapper program will develop and deploy two satellites in 2024

for a 9-month demonstration phase, laying the foundation for Phase 2, in which the goal is to expand to an operational constellation of satellites with the capabilities to provide daily to weekly real-time monitoring of methane and CO2 emissions. Meanwhile, to pave the way for the satellite program, Carbon Mapper executes airborne surveys to collect methane and CO2 data over domestic and international targets. To achieve its mission, Carbon Mapper conducts the activities described below:1)Scientific data collection and analysis Data collection: Carbon Mapper will apply advanced visible-infrared imaging spectroscopy using sensors to be installed on satellites. Once in orbit, the sensors will be able to pinpoint point source emissions of methane and carbon dioxide, the two most important greenhouse gasses, from oil and gas production, natural gas

infrastructure, landfills, dairies, wastewater plants, and other facilities. Carbon Mapper will collect and monitor the emissions data for use in its scientific and educational activities described below. Data analysis: Carbon Mapper will analyze the data using accepted scientific methodologies to pinpoint and quantify methane and carbon dioxide leaks around the globe. Carbon Mappers purpose in collecting and analyzing the data is to enable facility operators, regulators, and the general public to make informed decisions regarding leaks and their effect on climate, with the ultimate goal of reducing methane and carbon dioxide in earths atmosphere. Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
