Mission and programs · 2023

Mission

Engage, inspire, recruit and resource churches and families to serve children in our community through faith-based family preservation, kinship care, foster care and adoption.

  • Inspired and recruited parents from Colorado churches to serve the children in Colorado's welfare system through 180 hours of state-certified, faith-based training equired to become foster and adoptive parents. 90 individuals attended this state-certified training required to become foster and adoptive parents. An additional 208 individuals were trained to become support team members for fostering families. Project 1.27 then helped the families select appropriate agencies and provided on-going support throughout the fostering process. Project 1.27 provided additional training, hard goods and other support to 389 kinship and foster families, and 1,457 children involved in the child welfare system.

    Expenses $500,329 · Revenue $99,972

  • This year Project 1.27 continued Families Care, a program designed to support families with children at-risk for entering foster care to keep children safely at home and help families thrive in 3 counties. Twenty families and 44 children were served. The program was discontinued in two months because of lack of volunteers.

    Expenses $170,203 · Revenue $700

  • Project 1.27's first full year with Neighbors Program was very impactful. Project 1.27 recruits volunteer neighbors to provide a monthly meal and encouragement to kinship and foster families. The program increases sustainability of kinship and foster homes, thus decreasing disruption in placement for children in foster care. This provides an opportunity for children in care to develop healthy, healing relationships with foster providers, and avoids the additional trauma that comes with a placement disruption. The Neighbor Program served 40 foster families caring for 117 children.

    Expenses $99,680

  • ECHOflex, an 8-week class designed to help children and their parents develop skills for better mental health and resiliency, held 6 cohorts which served 90 children and 37 families. Participants reported significant increases in resiliency and healthy relationships.

    Expenses $96,321 · Revenue $89,217

  • The 1.27 National Network, led and funded by Project 1.27, served 18 similar organizations across the U.S. Together 1.27 Network organizations served 7,000 children through foster, kinship and adoptive families, mentoring, support services and direct resources. Project 1.27 provided Network members with 6 learning cohorts, monthly networking calls, a 3-day Executive Leader retreat and individual coaching and encouragement.

    Expenses $58,320

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
