Mission

The Eastern Maine Conservation Initiative (EMCI) is a non-profit organization with broad conservation interests that seeks to: 1) Foster environmentally sustainable communities of the eastern Maine coast; 2) Encourage an appreciation of their cultural geography; and 3) Help inspire an appreciation for conserving its ecological communities through natural history research.

Activities or mission (Part I)

Preserving and protecting the environment.

  • Funding to support scientific research that helps guide sustainable management of the eastern Maine coast by private landowners, government agencies, and non-profit organizations, in an effort to conserve and enhance the region's unique ecological communities, while being mindful of how these can contribute to an appreciation of the region's economy and culture. Funding also supports historical societies, museums, libraries, and other cultural institutions that are custodians of information and artifacts relevant to local history that are sometimes scattered and not easily available.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
