Mission and programs · 2022

Mission

ONIC's primary exempt purpose is to lessen the burden of government, relieve the poor and distressed, promote social welfare and combat community deterioration. This is achieved through the development and preservation of affordable housing, community engagement initiatives, and programs that support economic empowerment, environmental sustainability, and social equity. Our efforts are focused on enhancing the quality of life for all residents, particularly those in underserved and marginalized communities.

Activities or mission (Part I)

In addition to providing roofs and walls, ONIC implements a comprehensive approach that includes free place-based programs and services coordination. ONIC's mission is to create thriving, sustainable, inclusive, and affordable communities.

  • ONIC's Resident Services (RS) program is committed to improving the quality of life for residents through a broad range of services centered on three core pillars: housing stability, community engagement, and asset building. During the 2023 fiscal year, RS provided essential support, including rental and emergency assistance, unemployment benefits, food delivery, and access to health services. The program also organized community activities to combat the lingering effects of isolation that persisted even as the pandemic receded. Throughout the year, RS engaged in 1,311 interactions with 11,564 participants, of which 2,325 were unique individuals. The program also benefited from 2,487 hours of volunteer service provided by 199 unique volunteers. While the pandemic's impact diminished, RS services remained crucial in addressing both the ongoing effects of the pandemic and the evolving needs of the ONIC community.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
