Mission

With public debate around important issues often dominated by special interests pursuing their own narrow agenda, Maryland PIRG Foundation offers an independent voice that works on behalf of the public interest. Maryland PIRG Foundation works to protect consumers and promote good government. We investigate problems, craft solutions, educate the public, and offer the folks of Maryland meaningful opportunities for civic participation.

  • Researching and influencing public policy: staff engage in non-legislative activities including research, education, and policy development to stop the pollution from single-use plastics, promote consumer protection by strengthening regulations around product safety and working to give citizens the right to repair their own devices.

  • Public education and outreach services: recruiting volunteers, distributing educational literature, conducting surveys and discussing issues with the public to stop the pollution from single-use plastics, promote consumer protection by strengthening regulations around product safety and working to give citizens the right to repair their own devices.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
