Mission and programs · 2024
Mission
Our mission is to inspire kids to be champions for wildlife using art and education. We believe the more you learn, the more you love, the more you protect.
-
Champions for Wildlife partners with local schools to provide Wild for Art programs on North Carolina native wildlife. All programs incorporate an art activity. Each activity runs 45-60 minutes, with 15-20 minutes of a standards-aligned science and wildlife lesson. Students take the art home and share what they learned with family and friends. Each of these programs is provided to teachers free of charge thanks to the support from donors and grantors. In 2024, Champions for Wildlife taught in-class programming - primarily in Henderson and Polk Counties, NC a total of 259 classes and and 4,773 students were reached.
Expenses $192,996 · Grants $9,365 · Revenue $27,950
-
In addition to the in-class programming, Champions for Wildlife partnered with the Polk County School District to lead 40 after-school programs also on native North Carolina wildlife with a focus on creating art to demonstrate appreciation of that wildlife. This programming reached children in K-8th grades in five schools.
-
After Hurricane Helene, Champions for Wildlife assembled & distributed wildlife art kits for kids who lost everything in the storm. Thanks to donors and volunteers, we delivered the Sunshine and Smiles kits to over 500 children in Western NC, including all foster children in Polk County in grades K-5th.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
