Activities or mission (Part I)

The vision of Denver's Early Childhood Council is that Denver is a community where the diverse needs of all young children and their families are supported. The Council elevates the early childhood field through innovative and inclusive leadership services and solutions. Our goal is to see that every young child across Denver has access to quality care early learning social-emotional supports and health services that help them enter school ready to succeed. WE do this by helping caregivers teachers and others provide the highest quality services possible. We connect different aspects of the early childhood system to make sure that policies and practices meet all growth and developmental needs of children.

  • Quality Initiatives - our Quality Initiatives programs include the Colorado Shines Quality Initiatives Program CSQI the Denver Preschool Program DPP the Family Childcare Home Navigation program FCCH as well as some targeted Quality Initiative efforts. These programs enhance quality in early childhood education to improve the school readiness and social emotional well-being of Denver children birth to five years old. Early childhood professionals receive coaching training qualified classroom materials and technology resources to support the practice and quality of early learning environments. In FY22-23 the Council provided 3,447 hours of coaching to support best practice and new skill building for early childhood professionals across Denver - including increased focus on business and financial practices. The Council also managed over $709,000 of eligible investments in childcare programs for workforce development learning environments technology teacher incentives and capital improvements. All childcare programs are required to be quality rated through the State Colorado Shines Quality Rating and Improvement System. Most programs recognize gains in quality as a result of the supports and resources provided.

  • Early Childhood Systems Building - within this program Denver's Early Childhood Council works strategically with community nonprofit government foundation and corporate partners to align policies and create more efficient accessible and culturally responsive early childhood services. Program activities include a major annual educational conference that brings together representatives from all areas of the early childhood education community for education seminars networking and community building. The Council also provides data support for other councils early childhood programs and professionals statewide. Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
