Mission
Human Impact Partners transforms the field of public health to center equity and builds collective power with social justice movements.
-
Policy and Organizing: HIP uses public health research, expertise, framing, and communications to support power-building campaigns and movements for social policy changes that are fundamental to achieving health equity. In 2023, HIP conducted 35+ interviews with public health and social movement partners to inform a public health ecosystem capable of stronger, better advocacy. We mobilized the 3400+ national members of our Public Health Awakened network to make powerful interventions in campaigns for health equity and justice. Through our Health Instead of Punishment program, we provided political education to 77 public health students from over 30 different campuses nationally via our Abolitionist Public Health Student network. We also produced powerful policy-driven research in partnership with 6 external community organizing partners in support of their campaigns.
Expenses $1,431,059 · Grants $73,000 · Revenue $101,275
-
Capacity building: HIP provides training, technical assistance, and leadership development to support public health organizations and practitioners to take action on health and racial equity, and power-sharing with communities. In 2023, HIP provided 23 trainings and 100+ hours of Technical Assistance and Community of Practice (CoP) session facilitation to 1,000+ participants across 25 states. We launched a new CoP model to explore, discuss, and develop capacity to advance health equity, and facilitated 17 CoP sessions across multiple public health organizations, reaching 190+ participants.
Expenses $1,222,457 · Revenue $1,619,938

Bridging Strategies and Partnerships: HIP supports power-building between health departments and community organizers by identifying opportunities for collaboration, facilitating relationship-building, and providing resources and training to better connect the field and the movement. In 2023, HIP facilitated 17 trainings and workshops for public health agencies, community-based organizations, and grassroots organizing groups and provided direct technical assistance and support to agencies and organizations across 12 states. We also worked intensively with 4 inspiring partnerships of health departments and community power-building organizations via our Power-Building Partnerships for Health 2023 cohort.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
