Mission and programs · 2023

Mission

Provide homeless families emergency shelter and hospitality through interfaith communities and to work with families to find and retain stable housing.

  • Found House-Interfaith Housing Network (FHIHN) provides emergency shelter and housing programs for homeless families. FHIHN programs are designed to break the cycle of homelessness. In 2023, FHIHN served 380 families comprised of 1,255 individuals, 62% of whom were children. 93% of families served in 2023 achieved stable housing and 92% of those families maintained their housing and did not return to homelessness within two years. The emergency shelter program met the basic needs of 21 households in 2023. Normal operations are provided with the help of more than 100 partner congregations provided overnight shelter sites and three daily meals at houses of worship located throughout the City of Cincinnati. During this time the FHIHN transportation program shuttled families between congregational host sites and the FHIHN Day Center. At the Day Center, families worked with staff to gain stable housing and income. Children's needs were addressed through the child enrichment program, which provided school and developmental support for 74 children. The pet program extended care and/or assistance to four-legged family members, allowing 310 pets to stay on-site or with fosters while their human families worked to attain housing. Case Management and housing goals were implemented in the same way as in normal operations, and the use of congregational volunteers was limited, to ensure the health and safety for all.

    Expenses $4,237,383

  • Found House-Interfaith Housing Network (FHIHN) also offers community-based programs that help families maintain stability. In 2023, the shelter diversion program helped 62 families avoid homelessness through case management, housing placement and resources. Rapid rehousing provided short-term case management and financial assistance for 84 families. FHIHN's Youth Homelessness demonstration project served 13 families with a head of household between the ages of 18-24 with specialized case management and unique financial and physical supports to achieve stability. FHIHN's joint transitional-rapid rehousing program served 45 families through its site-based and scattered-site approach to move families quickly from shelter into their own unit and provided enhanced supports around child development. Permanent supportive housing provided case management and rental support for 76 families who have a member with a disability and a history of chronic homelessness, helping them to maintain their housing in the community. Aftercare services provided 79 families with extended case management following an emergency shelter stay and served as a safety-net for former guests facing temporary difficulties.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
