On the Grow: We prioritize families who are differently abled, led by seniors who are guardians of school aged children, recent birth-givers, and/or are families who live in communities with poor access to public transportation. Food Sovereignty 350 Bags have been distributed bi-weekly from Jan 2022- April 2022 and Oct 2022- Dec 2022. Weekly deliveries are made each Saturday via volunteer distribution at the Medford Tufts Campus. Bags are predominantly packed and dropped by 140 volunteers to BIPOC families with an average income of less than $60,000 a year living in Dorchester, Mattapan, Roslindale, Charlestown, and Lynn, MA. Target families are those who are led by seniors with school aged children, pregnant or recent birth givers, and/or have family members who are in some way differently abled. Ignite Change Through Compassion The Igniting Change Through Compassion Project involves seeing our homeless neighbors by making time to hear their stories and providing them with meals. BA Organizer, Eve Abraha, developed a training on how to avoid white saviorism when standing in solidarity with our homeless neighbors. The program distributed 400 meals to unhoused community members located on Massachusetts Ave in Boston, MA. Hydroponic Center The hydroponic commercial center and research facility's finished date was pushed back to 2023. Until this time, we have two smaller classrooms and teach 60 students twice a week via 45-60 min classes. KEY PROGRAM SUCCESS ? 45000 lbs of food delivered ? Trained 40 students trained on how to create hydroponic kits in both Lynn and Boston ? Attended 8 pop up summer markets ? Joined the Northshore Food Coalition ? Built a 5000 sq ft Grow Center in downtown Lynn, MA ? 400 meals distributed to the unhoused community located on Massachusetts Ave in Boston, MA.

Wellness Program: The Jean Charles Academy is committed to addressing root causes of behavior in a restorative manner that provides for dignity and clear communication at all times. The major components of our Wellness Program include: Restorative Justice Restorative Justice empowers students to resolve conflicts on their own and in small groups. It views ?harm? as a fracturing of relationships, rather than something that demands punishment. A restorative justice process is a way to uncover true needs and heal relationships via meaningful accountability. JCA believes to have a successful restorative justice system, norms must be created and adhered to at all grade levels and understood by be living norms. Students, guardians and Learning Coaches can add norms to this list as the need arises. Norms are used to hold all members of the Jean Charles Academy accountable for their actions. We hired Kyrk Morris, restorative justice facilitator from the Suffolk University Center of Restorative Justice, to hold restorative justice circles with 3-8th grade students. Trauma Informed Staff All staff are provided training on trauma informed practices as part of their onboarding and throughout the year of psychoeducational training in trauma-informed and best-practice approaches with students. Specifically, our staff are provided professional development regarding trauma-informed classroom approaches, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE?s) study, and continuous psychoeducation highlighting the impacts of traumatic exposure on student behavior. In school year 22-23, we launched a pilot to our trauma-informed training that allows all Building Audacity staff to receive the registered behavior therapist (RBT) certification. The RBTcertification is a credential for individuals working with individuals on the autism spectrum or those who benefit from behavioral support. We immediately saw a change in our ability to successfully work with students with IEP?s and undiagnosed students with behavioral concerns.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
