Mission
The mission of the Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF) is to provide leadership in Montgomery County by directing sustainable financial resources that strengthen our community and improve the quality of life for current and future generations.
Activities or mission (Part I)
Creating legacies to fulfill philanthropic dreams through grants to nonprofits and scholarships
-
Grants: Creating legacy grants by matching donor passions with nonprofits to improve the quality of life in Montgomery County. The Foundation holds donor advised funds, field of interest funds, designated agency funds and unrestricted funds. A team of 15 Distribution Committee volunteers review and vet grant requests. During 2024, 51 grants were given to feed the hungry, help with rent and utilities, care for abused children, help children start school with new clothes and school supplies, support animal welfare, support the arts and heritage of Montgomery County and more.
Expenses $445,469 · Grants $338,000
-
Scholarships: High school, community college and medical students are awarded grants to further their post high school educational pursuits. During 2024, 25 students received scholarships from legacy funds to expand their chance for success. Each fund targets a different population or interest, such as a local high school, specific attributes like service above self, academic performance, financial need or sports. Each fund has a Selection Committee approved by the Board which uses fair and objective criteria to select their nominee. All criteria, committees, and final scholarship recipients are approved by the Distribution Committee and Board of Directors.
Expenses $66,959 · Grants $50,900

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
