Mission

Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, Inc. (PDE), host of the Delaware Estuary Program, leads collaborative, science-based efforts to improve the Delaware River and Bay, which covers portions of Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

  • Monitored and maintained 11 living shoreline installations in NJ, PA and DE, including sites at Money Island, NJ, Mispillion Harbor, DE, and Bartram's Garden on the Schuylkill River in PA. Freshwater mussel research continued in 2022, including exploring the use of these animals to improve water quality in stormwater ponds and lakes. Planning continued for the new freshwater mussel hatchery, which will be constructed on the grounds of Bartram's Garden in Philadelphia, PA. The architectural design firm that was hired began working, and it's anticipated that construction will begin in late 2024.In the areas of education and outreach, PDE has returned to regular operations post COVID pandemic. In 2022, PDE received BIL funding from the United States Environmental Protection Agency and this resulted in the expansion of programs and subawards to partners. That funding will span a 5-year period oftime.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
