Mission
To enrich the lives of children and adults in the communities that we serve by providing excellence in arts education and cultural programming.
-
For over four decades, the place that people throughout the region have discovered to create, experience, and celebrate the arts is Sewickley's Sweetwater Center for the Arts. Our mission is simple: to enrich the lives of children and adults in the communities we serve by providing excellence in arts education and cultural programming. Sweetwater's story began in 1975 when a group of friends and neighbors in Sewickley came together to open an arts center where they could study and create art. That first community was small, operating in a single-family home with a pottery studio in a garage. Over the years, Sweetwater's community has grown, and we have transformed to become a regional hub that offers more than 400 classes, 6 gallery exhibitions, 10 musical performances, and countless artist lectures, auctions, and experiences in the arts. We also have a robust outreach program, further expanding our community through partnerships with more than 10 organizations in three counties.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
