Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.

The filer's explanations (Part III)
- Schedule J, Part I, Line 1a First-class or charter travel
- First class travel is authorized under our organization travel policy if the trip is outside of the contiguous 48 states of the US and is longer than 14 hours in duration, one-way. If a flight meets this policy it is not taxable compensation to the individual. In the FY25 reporting period the organization's CEO had business travel meeting this criteria.
- Schedule J, Part I, Line 1a Travel for companions
- Travel companions: In accordance with the OSU Foundation's formal distribution policy, travel expenses for spouses or other companions are reimbursable only if the spouse/companion has been asked to represent the Foundation or University in an official or representative capacity and his/her presence is critical for the conduct of such official business. All requests for spousal travel reimbursements are closely monitored to verify that they meet policy requirements and are properly taxed through payroll.
- Schedule J, Part I, Line 1a Tax indemnification and gross-up payments
- Gift Cards: In those instances where gift cards are given to employees the value of the card is processed through payroll for proper tax processing. This process includes grossing up the value of the gift card so that the employer bears the tax burden on these small gifts to recognize employees for specific contributions to our mission or as holiday gifts.
- Schedule J, Part I, Line 1a Health or social club dues or initiation fees
- Health or social club dues or initiation fees: During the reporting period, the Foundation paid social club dues for 5 employees. The memberships were deemed critical for the conduct of official business by providing access to meeting and event facilities for the organization and facilitating the cultivation and stewardship of alumni and donors. All paid social club memberships are closely monitored to verify that they meet policy requirements and are properly taxed through payroll.
- Schedule J, Part I, Line 1a Personal services
- Expenses for legal consultation fees regarding employment contract negotiations between the organization and the CEO were paid by the organization and processed through payroll for proper reporting on the W-2.
- Schedule J, Part I, Line 4b Supplemental nonqualified retirement plan
- The CEO received $23,000 of contributions to a 457(b) plan as approved by the Board as part of total compensation for the CEO. At this point in time, there has been no tax treatment applied. Applicable taxes will apply when benefits are withdrawn.
Part I's answers as filed. A line not listed was left unanswered; on lines 1a and 3 that means the box was not checked.
