Mission
To enrich the lives and experiences of children and adults with disabilities in the Central Florida area through therapeutic horseback riding and related activities.
-
Founded in 1998 with one horse and one rider, Freedom Ride has grown a PATH International Member Centers and a leading provider of equine-assisted services in the Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties metropolitan area. Today, Freedom Ride operates from its 25-acre farm with a dedicated team of 12 staff members, a herd of 12 therapy horses, and an extensive volunteer network that helps make its mission possible. During 2025, Freedom Rides Therapeutic Horseback Riding Program served 90 children and adults with disabilities, providing 2,160 individual riding sessions. These individualized lessons helped participants improve balance, strength, coordination, confidence, and independence while benefiting from the unique bond between horse and rider. Freedom Rides Equine-Assisted Wellness Program served 390 individuals experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse recovery, trauma, and other difficult life circumstances, including veterans served through the organizations partnership with the Orlando VA Medical Center. Participants received 18,720 individual 45-minute wellness sessions utilizing therapeutic groundwork and horse interactions to promote emotional resilience, self-awareness, and mental wellness. The organizations impact was strengthened by a dedicated corps of volunteers. Freedom Ride maintained approximately 100 active volunteers each week, many serving multiple days weekly in roles supporting program activities, horse care, barn operations, and facility maintenance. During the year, 129 volunteers were trained and engaged, contributing more than 8,997 volunteer hours in support of Freedom Rides programs and operations. Through the combined efforts of its staff, volunteers, and therapy horses, Freedom Ride provided transformative equine-assisted services to 480 participants during 2025, delivering more than 20,880 program sessions that improved physical, emotional, and mental well-being. As community demand continues to grow, Freedom Ride remains committed to expanding access to the healing power of horses for individuals and families throughout Central Florida.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
