The Nevada Museum of Art provides a forum for the presentation of creative ideas. It aspires to serve as a cultural resource for every member of the community.

Activities or mission (Part I)

To serve as a cultural and educational resource for every member of the community.

  • The Nevada Museum of Art, Inc. (the "Museum") is a not-for-profit organization housed in a contemporary building in Reno, Nevada designed by renowned architect Will Bruder. Founded in 1931, the Museum is one of the oldest cultural institutions in Nevada and is the only museum in the state accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. The Museum presents a wide variety of visual arts exhibitions, educational programs and studio classes, films, and special events. The permanent collection of the Museum is divided into four focus areas and consists of more than 2,000 works of art organized around general themes of land and environment. Many of the Museum's exhibitions and programs are developed as content for the Center for Art + Environment, which aims to support the practice, study, and awareness of creative interactions between people and their environment.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.

The filer's explanations (Part III)

Part I, Line 7
Bonuses are performance-based, and are determined by the employee's supervisor in concert with senior management. Performance is evaluated against management expectations for the employee's position and against the employee's contribution to departmental and organizational objectives. The Museum has a personnel sub-committee as a function of the Board of Trustees. The Personnel subcommittee chair is a member of the Executive Committee. Management and those charged with governance are committed to ensuring that all compensation decisions are fair, reasonable, and well-documented.

Part I's answers as filed. A line not listed was left unanswered; on lines 1a and 3 that means the box was not checked.
