Mission and programs · 2023

Mission

The organization stands for every pet and pet owner by making the highest quality veterinary care and spay neuter services affordable and accessible, with the goal of reducing the number of dogs and cats euthanized in regional shelters and creating a community without homeless pets.

  • 2023 was a year of significant growth and change for Stand for Animals. Halfway through the year the clinics medical director who had been with the practice since 2012 stepped down, putting additional pressure on the executive administrative leadership to manage all clinic operations. While at times challenging this ultimately ended up as a net positive as it became evident that this team was more fully capable of providing the stability, support, and leadership that the operation now requires. This was especially true in the area of personnel management. A commitment to increasing compensation for medical and administrative staff has resulted in significantly higher levels of staff retention (more than 1/3 of the staff has been with the practice for over 2 years). The Medical Assistance Fund continues to make it possible for clients with limited financial resources to provide care and treatment for their beloved pet.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
