Mission and programs · 2023
Mission
Everett Recovery Caf is a peer-to-peer recovery support organization where individuals in recovery from the trauma of homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges are welcomed and come to know themselves as loved with gifts to share. The Caf was founded on the understanding that each human being is cherished and beloved regardless of past trauma, mental and emotional anguish, addictive behaviors and mistakes made. We provide a beautiful, safe, warm, drug and alcohol-free space, and loving community in which to anchor members (closely held consumers) in the sustained recovery needed to gain and maintain housing, social and health services, healthy relationships, education, volunteering and employment.
Activities or mission (Part I)
The mission of the Everett Recovery Caf is to be a safe, healing community for individuals in recovery from the trauma of homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges and to empower long-term transformation through human connection.
-
Our program is designed to help people maintain recovery, reduce relapse, and fulfill their potential. Our work takes place in a community space, a healing milieu with free, nutritious meals, coffee, and celebrations; open-mic nights; daily encouragement from trained recovery coaches and a robust delivery of the message 'you matter'.Loving accountability groups called Recovery Circles are core to our program. Members are expected to attend a weekly Recovery Circle. They are expected to call if they are unable to attend. To encourage growth and the rebuilding of lives we use the power of giving back. This peer-to-peer aspect of recovery support is one of the most powerful pieces of Everett Recovery Cafs success. To provide our members with resources, Everett Recovery Caf has relationships and partnerships with a wide network of complimentary service providers. Some providers are scheduled onsite. The Caf offers classes that address the underlying causes of addiction, including classes that teach coping skills, develop knowledge, teach new life skills, influence creativity, and provide healing through connection. We also offer members a chance to engage in the creation of art which both enriches their experience and reduces anxiety. In 2023, Everett Recovery Caf served 784 members (up 20% from 2022), had 901 Guest entries (up 93% from 2022), provided 16,555 meals (up 48% from 2022), and recorded 15,861 individual recovery visits (up 43% from 2022). An individual recovery visit is defined as one person welcomed through our doors on a given day for support, resources, meals, and a community of care. The Cafs Recovery Coach Program, funded primarily though State and Federal Grants, provides members in recovery from drugs and alcohol with a recovery coach, who assists them in setting goals as part of a Recovery Wellness Plan. The coach meets regularly with members to support the removal of barriers to those goals. The members can receive recovery housing vouchers and transportation vouchers. In 2023, the Caf facilitated 3,891 Recovery Coach sessions (up 42% from 2022), issued 390 recovery housing vouchers (up 10% from 2022), and 1,965 transportation vouchers (up 37% from 2022).

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
