CUSH IS AN INTERFAITH COALITION ACTIVELY LIVING OUR FAITH AND VALUES IN THE PURSUIT OF JUSTICE THROUGH ADVOCACY, EDUCATION AND EMPOWERMENT.

THE CUSH JAILS AND VOTING TASK FORCE HELPED EDUCATE DETAINEES ON THEIR OPTIONS FOR PARTICIPATION IN ELECTIONS AND VOTING. THIS TASK FORCE MET WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT LEADERS TO EXPLORE OPTIONS AND CREATED AN INFORMATIONAL FLYER, WHICH WAS POSTED IN THE KENOSHA COUNTY DETENTION CENTER. ESTIMATES FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL SUGGEST THAT VOTER PARTICIPATION INCREASED APPROXIMATELY 200-300 PERCENT AFTER THE INTERVENTION. THE TASK FORCE ALSO WORKED TO INFORM COMMUNITY MEMBERS OF THE STRUGGLES THAT DETAINEES FACE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO VOTE WITH AN OPEN COMMUNITY INFO. SESSION.

OUR RAINBOW FORWARD TASK FORCE HELPED PROVIDE A SPIRITUAL SPACE FOR LGBTQ COMMUNITY MEMBERS BY HOSTING MONTHLY SCRIPTURE READINGS. ADDITIONAL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING TAUGHT COMMUNITY MEMBERS ABOUT BEST PRACTICE FOR ALLYSHIP AND ABOUT THE THREATS POSED BY CHRISTIAN NATIONALISM. THIS GROUP ALSO HOSTED A TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRANCE EVENT TO HONOR VICTIMS OF ANTI LGBTQ VIOLENCE.

THE CUSH IMMIGRATION TASK FORCE JOINED THE DETENTION WATCH NETWORK, IN AN EFFORT TO BOLSTER OUR ABILITY TO PROTECT VULNERABLE COMMUNITY MEMBERS. MEMBERS OF THE GROUP ALSO HOSTED DRIVER SAFETY TRAININGS FOR UNDOCUMENTED COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO HELP AVOID INCIDENTS WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT, EDUCATING APPROXIMATELY 30 COMMUNITY MEMBERS.
