Mission and programs · 2022

Mission

The Parent Power Lab exists to amplify the collective agency of Parents to impact public education in transformative ways.

  • In 2022, its inaugural year, Parent Power Lab has built up to a team of three and began the process of recruiting and evaluating applicants for our primary programming, the 2023 Parent Organizing Institute (POI). Of the 44 applications received, 34 parent leaders were accepted, and we successfully launched our POI programming with a weekend of events, beginning in October of 2022. Through connections to the parent leaders involved in POI, we have representation from five school districts, supporting over 60 children in both traditional district schools and public charter schools. We are excited about the resources and reach that will be afforded through our training of the parents currently participating in POI 2023, and the future trainings that are in the works. We are currently in the developmental phases for two additional trainings to take place in the upcoming year alongside our POI training.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
