PROVISION OF FOOD & SHELTER TO THE HOMELESS AND NEEDY
Activities or mission (Part I)
TO PROVIDE FOOD & SHELTER TO THE HOMELESS AND NEEDY.
-
THE KITCHEN HAS BEEN SERVING MEALS TO THE HUNGRY IN SANTA CRUZ FOR OVER 35 YEARS. EACH DAY A HEARTY MEAL OF SOUP, SALAD, BREAD, COFFEE AND MILK ARE SERVED TO OVER 130 PEOPLE AT NOON. THERE ARE AN ESTIMATED 400 PEOPLE WHO SLEEP OUTSIDE IN SANTA CRUZ AND IT IS DIFFICULT FOR ONE AGENCY TO HANDLE ALL THEIR NEEDS. THE KITCHEN IS ONE PLACE WHERE THOSE IN NEED WILL FIND A KIND WELCOME, FOOD AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO REST IN SAFETY. ALL IN NEED REGARDLESS OF RACE, CREED, COLOR OR SEX. EACH DAY A DIFFERENT SOUP IS SERVED IN ADDITION TO THE SALAD, FRUIT, BREAD AND MILK. A WHOLESOME VARIETY OF FILLING SOUP AND HOMEMADE SALAD DRESSINGS HELP TO CREATE A COMPLETE MEAL. DESSERTS ARE ALSO SERVED WHEN AVAILABLE. OTHER SERVICES INCLUDE SHOWERS, WHICH ARE AVAILABLE DAILY FROM 11:00 AM TO 1:00 PM. CLOTHING IS DISTRIBUTED ON MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY. SHIRTS, PANTS, SOCKS, OUTERWEAR AND CLOTHING ARE AVAILABLE TO OUR GUESTS.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those.
