Mission and programs · 2023

Mission

The Lobero Theatre Foundation is organized to operate and maintain the historic Lobero Theatre as a performing arts center and cultural asset to the community and to present high quality productions in music, dance and theatre.

  • Community Access Fund (CAF) and annual rentals: This past year, 78% of our activity was presented by artists and organizations who rent the stage to connect with their audiences. As part of our CAF initiative, we provided $106,700 in subsidies to eight youth performing organizations and 14 local performing arts companies. CAF subsidies ensured that these community organizations were able to sustain their important programming. Lobero LIVE: During this past season, the Lobero successfully presented 43 signature events with an audience of more than 19,000 patrons. The most popular artists from this season included Poncho Sanchez, Herb Alpert & Lani Hall, Los Lobos, Aimee Mann and local favorite Tina Schlieske. Youth & Community Outreach: Highlights from the past year of Youth & Community Outreach program include taking jazz residencies into 10 schools to more than 200 students ranging from 4th grade to college. We provided 460 free tickets to our Lobero LIVE events to participants from local social service agencies, senior living facilities, and youth organizations and schools. Another 1000+ students attended ballet and opera performances via field trips.

Compensation is as filed in Part VII: reportable pay from this organization and from related organizations, other compensation, and hours per week. The total, marked calculated, is our sum of the three dollar columns, with a blank column counted as $0; the form itself has no total. On a Form 990-EZ the columns are Part IV's instead, and on a Form 990-PF Part VIII's — compensation, contributions to benefit plans, and expense account — and the total sums those. A Schedule J breakdown is as filed: base pay, bonus, other, deferred compensation and nontaxable benefits from this organization, with any from related organizations beside each, and the filer's own total. It is shown with the Part VII listing of the same name on the same return. The form gives no key between the two, so that pairing is ours, and is marked matched by us.
